The Community Care Center was established by a group of visionary, retired physicians who wanted to help the increasing numbers of uninsured poor in our community.  The Center opened its doors in October 2000, housed in a building that it leased from Novant Health, Inc., for $1 a year.  A dental clinic staffed by volunteer dentists and hygienists followed in 2001.

The Community Care Center is now the largest and most comprehensive free clinic in North Carolina.
